Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series for Small Business

This is Cisco’s SMB phone system.  It provides all the normal features you would find in a Traditional Key/PBX Analog or Digital phone system, but with the power of VoIP, it can deliver so much more.  For example, voicemail to email attachments, remote/home office phone mobility, video calls, conference bridging, SIP Trunking and the list goes on.  One feature that is important to elaborate on is SIP Trunking signaling. SIP Trunking is now available from many Phone Company’s and provides both voice/data on the same T1 circuit.  This type of voice/data signaling offers huge savings compared to POTS and PRI based PSTN connections.  Another big reduction in costs is related to structured cabling expenses for your office.  Since the Cisco Phone System uses the same CAT5e data cables that your computers rely on, you save big on not having to install and having to maintain a separate phone and data networks.  Currently the UC500 is offered with licensing between 8-64 phones.  However, if more that 64 phones are required, Cisco offers other solutions for the medium through enterprise market.

This is Microsoft’s Unified Communication Solution.  This product is software driven VoIP communication solution using the power of Office Communication Server and Office Communicator client.  It includes Instant Messaging, Voice, Video, Conferencing, Web Meetings, Presence and more.  It reduces the costs of phone hardware by using your PC as the medium of communications.  Simply plug in a compatible headset to your PC and now you have a full featured voice/video communication system.  For those who prefer a traditional phone handset, there are many compatible phone handsets that can be used in conjunction with the Office Communication Server.  This product can also be integrated with your existing PBX/VoIP phone system to add the benefits of Presence, Instant Messaging and Voice/Video/Web Conferencing.
